What OddsPapi Is
OddsPapi sells a sports odds API. An API is a way for your code to ask a service for data. You send a request with your key, and odds come back.
It pulls prices from a very wide range of bookmakers (betting sites). It is aimed at developers who build betting and analytics tools. It covers many sports and many leagues around the world.
OddsPapi is a data service. It does not take bets.
Who OddsPapi Is For
OddsPapi fits coders who need broad coverage. That includes bettors who build a model, a spreadsheet feed, or an odds screen. Its odds cover player props (bets on one player's stats), futures, totals and Asian handicaps.
It is a good match if you want past odds. A free history endpoint is a nice perk for model builders.
It is probably not for you if you do not write code. It is also a poor pick if you need a live stream on a small budget. That feature is limited to one plan.
How It Works
- Make a free account. The site suggests you try it first.
- Get your API key from your account settings.
- Add the key to each request as a parameter.
- Call the REST endpoints. REST means your code asks for data each time.
You can ask for fixtures, odds, odds by tournament, past odds, settlements and scores. Odds come back as live, pre-match and historical.
A WebSocket is a live stream that sends changes to you. OddsPapi has one, but the docs say it works only on a newer version with the B2B plan.
What to Weigh Before You Pay
The free account limits are not clear on its public pages. Look at your dashboard after you sign up.
- Requests are capped. Your quota is per key and resets each month. Go over and you get an error back.
- History is free. Calls to the past-odds endpoint never count against your quota.
- Speed is a vendor claim. It says it keeps delays on sharp books close to real time. Some books run slower. Treat speed as unproven until you check it.
- Live streaming is limited. The WebSocket feed is tied to the B2B plan.
- You cannot resell the data. The terms forbid selling it as a standalone product.
- Payments are not refunded. You can cancel any time from your dashboard.
- The terms are thin. They do not name a company. Read them before you build a business on this.
Bookmakers worldwide are a plus if you want to compare prices across many books. They are less helpful if you only care about a few US books.
Bottom Line
OddsPapi is worth a try if you want wide coverage, props and free past odds. Start with the free account. Check the quota and the delay on the books you care about. Then decide if a paid plan is worth it.
