What PredictionData.io Is

PredictionData.io sells odds as data. An API is a way for your code to ask a service for data. It says it covers a very wide list of sportsbooks (betting sites). It also covers prediction markets, which are sites where people trade on whether events will happen. Polymarket and Kalshi are two examples.

It also has an odds screen, widgets and a tool that prices same game parlays. A same game parlay joins several bets from one game into one bet. Its pages say it is aimed at sportsbooks, affiliates, trading firms and publishers.

Who PredictionData.io Is For

This is for teams and serious builders. Think of a company that runs a betting site, a publisher that shows odds, or a coder who needs past data to test a model. The pages show player props, live odds and past odds.

It is likely not for you if you want to sign up alone and pay by card. Access goes through a sales team. A hobby coder may find that slow.

How It Works

  • Book a demo. You tell the company what you need. A rep sets up your account.
  • Get a key. The docs say your rep gives you an API key, which is a private code that proves who you are.
  • Pull or stream. REST means your code asks for data each time. You can ask for markets, players, teams and games. SSE is a live stream that sends you changes. It has one for live prices.
  • Look at what comes back. You get odds in a standard shape, plus results, schedules, lineups and injury news.
  • Grade bets. It says you can grade bets through the API, including parlays and props.

What to Weigh Before You Pay

No public prices. The pricing page says it builds a custom plan. You have to talk to sales. No free plan or trial turned up.

Limits. The docs say it limits how often you can ask. They also say each plan has a monthly cap. Ask what yours would be.

Speed. PredictionData.io says it updates fast. Its pages give several different speed claims. Treat them as its claims, and test the feed yourself.

Gaps. Its own pages say feeds can have delays, gaps or mistakes. League coverage can also differ from one part of the API to the next.

Reuse rules. The terms limit how you can copy or republish the data. Check them if you want to show it on a public site.

Bottom Line

PredictionData.io suits teams that want sportsbook odds and prediction markets from one source, and that are fine with a sales call. If you want a plan you can buy today, look elsewhere. Ask about limits, coverage and reuse rules first.
