What Outlier is
Outlier is a research app for sports bettors. It collects player prop and game line data in one place, including stats, trends, injury news and odds from many sportsbooks and prediction markets.
If you are newer to betting, think of it as a way to see more of the market before you place a bet. Instead of opening several apps to compare prices, you look at one screen. Higher tiers add positive expected value (EV) feeds and arbitrage tools. A +EV bet is one where the odds pay more than the true chance of winning suggests. You can check that math yourself with our EV calculator.
Who Outlier is for
Outlier fits bettors who like to research props before they bet. If you want to see how a player has performed against a line, and then compare the price across books, the core product is built for that.
It also suits bettors who hold accounts at several sportsbooks. The odds comparison is only useful if you can act on the best price, and the app links out to some major books so you can place a bet quickly.
The paid tiers that add EV, arbitrage and middle feeds are aimed at more committed bettors. If you only bet a few times a week on your favorite team, the free daily picks may be all you need.
Outlier probably won't suit you if you want someone to hand you picks. It is a research and data product, and it expects you to make the decisions.
How it works
A typical session looks like this:
- Browse player props and game lines across leagues, and filter to the markets you follow.
- Check supporting context such as trends and injury reports. The injury view shows who is starting or sitting and how lineup changes may affect lines and props.
- Compare odds across sportsbooks and prediction markets to find the price you prefer.
- Save filters that match your own approach, then turn on alerts so the app notifies you when a play fits your criteria.
- Use the links to place the bet at the book you chose.
On the Pro tier, you also get a live feed of +EV plays, arbitrage and middle opportunities, and a boosts feed that pairs boosted odds with expected value analysis. Pro includes a second in-game app as well.
Some free content is open without an account, such as daily NBA and NFL picks.
What to weigh before subscribing
Tiers matter. The product has several paid levels, and the features you may care most about, like EV, arbitrage, middles, sharp book odds and boosts, are Pro-only. Check the at-a-glance table above for current pricing and trial terms before you decide which level you need.
Trials and refunds. The trial asks for a payment method and renews automatically unless you cancel in time. The terms say payments are nonrefundable, including for partly used billing periods. You can cancel at any time, and access continues to the end of the billing cycle. Set a reminder if you try it.
Account limits. If you use EV and arbitrage feeds, you will place bets that sportsbooks may notice. Books can limit or close accounts that bet this way. Consider that before you build a routine around Pro features.
Bankroll and discipline. EV betting pays off over many bets, not one. A feed of plays does not tell you how much to stake. Our Kelly criterion calculator can help you think about sizing.
Learning curve. A large set of filters and feeds takes time to learn. Expect to spend a few sessions setting up saved filters before alerts become useful.
Bottom line
Outlier works best for prop bettors who want research and odds comparison in one app, and who may grow into the Pro feeds later. If you want only a simple picks service, or you can't open accounts at multiple books, the extra tiers will do less for you. Use the free content first and read the table above for what each level costs.
